Winter Birch Trees | Info + Comments (25)

I decided to escape the frustration of being unable to do some winter landscapes, due to the current uninviting weather conditions, and at least play around a little with the panning technique in the forest. By excluding the sky and blurring the image I tried to at least create something nice, in this otherwise not so nice current conditions. I tried to find the trees from this image again, but unfortunately couldn't.

As for the processing, this has only seen Lightroom and some final level adjustments in PS.

I hope you like it and thanks for visiting.

I think I like the winter version even more than the summer version (and I liked that one too). I like the way the white is carried up through the bark of the trees. It works well with the impressionism technique.

I like the stark character of the image. Really does capture a bit of the winter woods feel. Nice job.

I liked the summer version and perhaps like this even more. The birch trees work really well in B&W and the lack of colour helps to focus the eye on the pure texture elements of the image. The motion blur suggests even the trees are shivering in the cold northern air!

A beautiful yet haunting image. I expect to see a wolf creeping in the background.

Very nice shot. I prefer this one to the colored one, the background here is more complex and more detailed.

Very interesting and cool. I get so tired of taking pictures of snow in the winter. It's nice to see something beautiful & original.
