Where's Frodo? | Info + Comments (16)

I shot this one handheld, and without any filters on my trip to Norway, which was supposed to be only a trip to KilpisjƤrvi, where I actually took this one. The scene and the lighting conditions had something bizarre and mysterious to it. It felt a little like a scene from Lord Of The Rings, and the appearance of two hobbits following Smeagol wouldn't have really surprised me ;-)

The clouds were very, very low, the lake still frozen at certain places and everything felt just gray. It was interesting though. When I took a nap after driving like 9 hours through a beautiful sunset, and heavy rain storms, it started to snow, which was only partly funny since I already changed to summer tires. Not much further to the north, in Norway, the scenery was lot different as you can see on my previous images.

I will return to this place sooner or later, as I couldn't get the image which I actually came here for.

Post-processing wise I worked in Lightroom and some finishing touches in Photoshop using my usual LAB routine.

I hope you like it and thanks for visiting.

PS: My greatest and warmest thanks to all of my commenters on my previous images. I haven't had the time yet to reply to your comments, but I will try to do my best in the next few days.

Oh yes, out of LOTR is a fitting description! Astonishing how you clear everything under water is visible even without a polarization filter.

Une image qui reflète la calme, la sérénité loin de la cohue trépidante qui nous entoure et... qui donne envie de visiter ce pays !

An awesome shot with a matching title. I was instantly reminded of Mordors death marches. The wreck adds an extra sense to this shot. Great!

Gefällt mir, besonders der Blick unter die Wasseroberfläche ...

Fantastic scenery...
I'm curious what kind of LAB routine you've applied. Care to share the secret? :)

Thanks a lot. Always nice to hear that you like my images.

@Joanna: The LAB thingy is actually not so spectacular and very easy to achieve. In this case I simply boosted the colours a little. I did once a little a little video on this. You can find it here:
