Waves Rolling In | Info + Comments (12)

This time it's a little unusual (well.. at least for me), slightly dark image. I was running through my archives last night and discovered some long forgotten images which inspired me.

I took this one during my trip to Cornwall in spring, near St.Just.

The wind was strong on that day and I basically only could shoot from the right side of the bay, which was giving some shelter from the heavy wind. I was hiding next to a big rock, which is why I couldn't compose the rocks in the sea more to the middle of the frame, without having my "shelter-rock" also in the frame. But I think in this crop the rocks are actually nicely positioned and add some interest to the background.

I have some other, much more silent and minimal images in the works, and additionally look forward to winter finally breaking out here, so that I can try to get some of the shots that I have planned.

I hope you like it and thanks for viewing.

Love the low angle you have chosen here. It looks like the waves are rolling right into my lap.

The dark works. Adds to the mood and makes it feel windy and cold.

Hi everybody. Thanks a lot for taking your time and leaving such nice comments. Glad you like the image. It sure was fun out there, a little to windy though.

@Arnd: I actually was afraid that exactly that happens to me ;-)

Where do I begin? I love the square crop and b&w conversion. The composition is amazing! The combination of the rough & smooth textures of the rocks in the foreground and the silkiness of the water from a longer exposure is breathtaking! Perfect placement of the horizon, rocks in the far background and a dramatic sky add to this stormy mood. It makes me want to bundle up and drink something warm. I love it. Thanks for posting this one!

Great and powerful shot, like the perspective and this "dark" atmsophere.
