Sixty Seconds at Sunrise | Info + Comments (37)

Before I write something about this image, I would like to take the chance to thank all the visitors for taking your time, leaving comments, voting for my blog on the Photoblog Awards and bookmarking me on Photoblogs.org and on VFXY. Thank you all so much, it is very motivating to get such a feedback.

But now to the image. It's a 60 seconds exposure taken at almost the same location as my last image, only two lakes to the north, which should be around 500m. For those interested, the name of that lake is: Valkiäsjärvi.

I got up at four that morning and drove around 15km through the dark with my bike to this lake, and when I arrived there I got the reward for my effort. A beautiful sunrise. The mist on the water made the trees on the other side of the lake soft and dreamy and some clouds did their best to reflect in the water.

Some notes on the processing: I used GND filters here with together 5 Stops over the sky. The original file was quite well exposed, and I did only apply some color correction in Lightroom and finally some (really not much) adjustments in LAB color mode PS.

Another wonderful shot. The rock, of course, is an essential element in this composition and you used it masterfully. Love the cloud reflections on the right side. For some reason I didn't really expect reflections in that part of the scene....a nice surprise.

Stunning colours and clarity! I love the warping caused by the wide angle.

I am reminded by the title of the over popular poem If.. by Rudyard Kipling:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds worth of distance run,
yours is the world and everything thats in it....
This is certainly 60s very well spent to bring us a view of your beautiful world.

This is an exceptionally fantastic image. Calm, zen, repose... Colours, tone, framing, feel of chill morning air. Everything is there and simplicity makes powerful impact. What a fantastic image to look at. It is real foot stopper at gallery, that is sure.

The original is actually really quite pleasing itself. The little extra punch in the posted version though it definitely preferrable. Nice composition with the fore and mid ground rocks.

Wonderful stillness and beauty, Sven. I love the contrasting blues of the sky and the warmth of the sunrise, the low lying mist is magical.

This is truly a mesmerizing photograph. You are truly blessed to be near such natural beauty. You captured the essence of the break of dawn. The quiet and zen like composition, the absolute stillness of the moment, yet the motion of the future suggested by the rising sun in the horizon. People could write poetry on the basis of this photo alone. Wow.

Really beautiful image. Every year I go canoeing in the BWCA of Northern Minnesota and this image reminds me of the serenity up there. Gorgeous.

Super, wie hier die Weite erzeugt wird. Exellente Aufteilung. Der kleine Stein im Vordergrund und die paar Steine in der Mitte machen das Bild noch interessanter.

I am a newcomer to your wonderful site, it's lovely to be able to look at your state of mind, you seek, you realise.

There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said... but the tones and colours are absolutely stunning.
