No Shelter From The Storm | Info + Comments (8)

I had been a little absent from this site the last few weeks due to a little holiday trip, and when I came back the motherboard of my computer decided to not work anymore. So I had no chance to post something fresh lately.

I had a very eventful shooting the other night. I went to the island of Hailuoto, which is a gorgeous place to shoot. Unfortunately it was very windy that evening, so I didn't do a lot of shots that I would have liked to do. There are beautiful scenes with flowers out there right now, but they were moving so much in the wind that getting a sharp image was impossible. So I decided to take the best out of that situation, and experiment with some more blurry frames.

I hope the weather will change soon, so that I have a chance to go back there.

I took quiet a few frames at the coast, which I will post later. I got attacked twice by some vicious birds and they also took the opportunity to s**t on my tripod!

But this one I captured already on my way back to the ferry. I liked the colours of the scene and the movement of the grass.

I hope you like it and thanks for visiting my site.

UPDATE: I replaced the original image with a slightly different edit. I got some suggestions over at the forum which I applied to this one.

A trip with a lot of troubles, especially with the birds! :) Very nice shot! I like the grass and the nice scene. Very beautiful!

I like the perspective used here, looking up across the flowing grass to the sheds and the gorgeous sky beyond. The long exposure gives a very soft quality to the grass.
I had a same problem recently in a field of buttercups on a very windy day

Lovely fine light you captured. Personally, I like some movement in the flowers, or in this case the grass - means it's not "studio" and it shows an energy or dynamic.

Lovely light and contrast between mild orange, green and blue. I also like the movement on the grass.

Oh my goodness...this is great. The softness of the grass is great. The colors are amazing...they are subtle without being muted. The sky is excellent and the exposure is just perfect. Very nice "end of the day" feeling even though it seems that this was shot at night. Absolutely excellent capture.

@desolate | metropolis: Thanks a lot. I shot this indeed in the night, but at the moment it's not getting dark anyway through the night here. So it feels like half an hour after sunset from 12 to 3 (well almost ;-) )
