Bay #1 | Info + Comments (11)

As announced earlier today on the blog, here's now the first image in a little series of bays.

Editing colour images somehow was always relatively easy to me, but B&W images felt always impossible. Inspired by and with some help of my friend Kai, I finally managed to produce a few B&W images which I totally liked. I was surprised though, how much more difficult it is, to create a pleasing B&W image. I have had been working on this for quite a while. Every minor adjustment was followed by some serious drooling about the result.

Either I managed to settle, and here it is (which actually doesn't mean, that this is the final version....)

I hope you like this one as much as I do.

Fantastic toning and depth to this, first rate B&W. Can't say much more than I really like this image :)

This is a great photo. Nicely compose. Excellent use of the low angle.

Besides the stunning b/w image that this makes... the first thing I noticed about this image was that it was a different kind of crop than you have had in a while. Usually your crops are much longer in the horizontal or vertical than the other... but in this case it is more of the traditional crop. So I was happy to see you break out of your box... with both the b/w and the crop. It is a beautiful photograph.

well, b&w is also a mystery for me. As much as I know the rules of colour editing, b&w is so...mysterious. I'm happy that you've managed such a great effect here.

Tolle s/w Arbeit. Kontraste, Zeichnung, passt alles und die leichte Silbertönung is hervorragend.

I really like the greenish touch that you use here. Another outstanding work.
