Autumn Rocks | Info + Comments (13)

Whoa, time flies. It feels like yesterday that I posted my 99th image and now it's already no. 100!

I thought for a while which image I should post and decided for this one, because it's from this week and it shows how beautiful autumn can be here.

This image is also a little unusual for me, because I usually go shooting around the golden hours, but my current work schedule allows this only occasionally. So I took this in the late morning when I had little break from work, and quickly went to this location which I spotted a few weeks ago.

As for the processing: I didn't do much to this image. I shot it with a GND filter vertical through the image, and did some minor color adjustments in LR and some color adjustments in LAB mode in PS. One bigger adjustment though is, that I again made a chimney from the industry at the horizon disappear.

If you are interested to learn about GND filters, I would like to point you to a little series of blog posts which I have started on my blog.

I hope you like it and thanks for visiting my site.

Update: It has become a recent habit of mine to post the wrong version of the image first ;-) So this is the right one.

Congratulations on 100 photos! Very calm/still image for late morning. I've been reading your post on GND filters and have begun looking into purchasing one- any recommendation on brand?

Thank you for all your advice and for sharing your beautiful images.

Well done Sven; you've really done an amazing job over the last 100 posts. This image is no exception; love the left/right green/blue split. Your colours are always so rich.

Ditto Jamie's comment; I to am interested in GND filters.

Looking forward to viewing the next 100 ;-)

Thank you all so much. I'm very happy that you like it. I just had good luck that day. The morning was extremely gray, but suddenly it cleared up while I had a break at work.

@RJ: I'm also looking forward to that. I hope I find more time to go out in future.
@Jamie/RJ: I use the Lee Filter system, which I like very much. But since I have not tried any of the other brands, I can't say nothing about them. The second part of my post on the filters will hopefully be up in the next week.

Maybe the stone in the foreground is a little too big for me but it's all the same a nice shot. The light and the colors are superbs!
