On The Comments, Get Set....

I have been thinking about the way the I handle, or the way I should handle the comments here on my blog for a while.

In the beginning I responded to the comments right here on the blog, which I liked because it's open and it might benefit the following visitors on my blog. Then I stepped away from that, because it felt that I was kind of pushing the comment numbers also it had the negative effect, that I couldn't be sure, that the comment I'm responding to, actually will reach it's creator. So I started to reply to the comments individually via Email, which is why there's no comments from me here recently.

While I feel this more personal and informative for the commenter, it doesn't benefit the next visitor, maybe having the same question.

I'm a little in a rud with this situation and decided that for now, I will openly respond to comments. First of all it's easier, since it's less work and it's more open. And open is good, isn't it?

With the danger, of boosting the comment numbers, I will at least for the time being respond here on the blog again, and in some cases send this respond to the commenter. So, please leave your email address and/or use "alert me of comments" to receive my comment automatically.

So, see you here on the blog or in your inbox.

I go back and forth between the same two issues. I'm not worried so much about comment numbers, but if I respond on the blog then I'm not sure the person will see it. But it is starting hard to respond to every comment by email. Although it is definitely a more personal touch. This may be a good poll question for Pixyblog the next time one comes up.

Hi Laurie,

this is indeed a difficult decision to be made. I hope I find a decent way somewhere in the middle. Maybe we should pick this up for a poll. Will talk with Richard about that.
