In case you missed it...

Posted Sunday, 7 February 2010 by Sven Seebeck

This is just a quick Sunday, in-case-you-missed-it type of post.

Things are happening all over the place, and I'm as busy as ever, unfortunately not so much with doing photography. Once I have the time to go out shooting, the weather conditions are most of the time a little uninspiring. It's guaranteed though that the conditions are just wonderful, once I'm at work or something like that. Like for example last Friday, when we had the full, orange lit moon over the hills of Lapland, while I was stuck and sitting in this bus going to a concert in the norht. Somehow I have the feeling I wrote similar words already last year. Well, no can do.

But now to the actual news...

Over here I started to sell hand made-prints. Beginning with this month I will offer on a monthly basis a new print for a special price. I don't intend to become filthy rich with that, I merely would like to get my out there. The first one being this image (in B&W) and all info necessary you can find in this post.

On a little side note, I would like to announce that I have launched some kind of personal blog this week. Actually I have set it up in just that bus I was stuck in last week. As the idea already implies, it's a little different from here. Some, but not a lot photography kind of posts, more like personal articles, views, opinions, rants and links maybe. I'm not so sure myself what to do over there and how to fill it with content, but I guess time will tell. But of course I started to tweak it a little already ;-)

Feel free to visit me over there, at Too Much Latté.

I guess that's it for now. Stay tuned for future updates.

Photoblog Awards 2010

Posted Sunday, 7 February 2010 by Sven Seebeck

Just yesterday I noticed my friend Stephan Sachs, aka @fischimglas, talking about Coolphotoblogs- Photoblog Awards 2010, which reminded me that I haven't submitted me there this year so far, but it seems someone else already did that. Thanks to whom it may concern. Last year I totally forgot about that I submitted me in the middle of the year somehow.

And while I was already at it, I managed to update my profile a little on Coolphotoblogs as well. Something that was long overdue.

If you like to visit here and like my images, you are more than welcome to vote for me.

A look at the site there will also reveal some very beautiful and inspiring photoblogs in case you are interested. But then again, you of course know that.

Print Of The Month: Rekvik Pier Mono

Posted Monday, 1 February 2010 by Sven Seebeck

It's time for another announcement.

I mentioned a couple of times before here on the blog, that me and a friend produce high-quality prints on our own. A few of them are hanging in this gallery (aka my living-room), and a few others I gave away during my logo-competition.

As we are now still the beginning of the year I decided to pull off a new series here on the blog, the "Featured Print".

The print will be handmade on Tecco Baryt (270gr) paper, with a professional printer, shipping with a hand-made, signed passé-par tout.

The pricing for this print will be reasonable and less than for what I would usually sell it. The price will include the print, the passé-par tout and shipping worldwide (I have shipped a few images so far and the prices were horrendous. I one case it would have actually been cheaper to fly there and deliver it myself. No joke).

This price will be valid for a month or better, until I announce the next print, whatever comes first.

To start things off I will offer my signature print:

Rekvik Pier (mono)

Sven_b&w4.jpg

The print size will be 29x20cm and with the passé par-tout 40x30cm (This will fit perfectly and looks great in Ikea's Ribba frame) and it will go for 80€ including world-wide shipping.

If you are interested contact me via email or use my contact sheet.

Besides these, called it "special offer" if you will, I have more prints for sale. Have a look at my upcoming "Prints" page.

If you are interested in this or other prints, please use the contact sheet here or simply drop me an email. As my printer is currently in India for two weeks, you have some time to think about it ;-)

My favorite gear of 2009

Posted Friday, 22 January 2010 by Sven Seebeck

As announced already a while ago, here's now the final post of my yearly summary. Could have been earlier posted maybe, but better now than never.

I have learned a lot about photography during this year, and I have the feeling that I gained a lot clearer view on how I want to compose and what I'm looking for. Besides those achievements I acquired some gear during this year, which made it a lot easier to achieve what I wanted or are simply a joy to use.

First of all, right in the beginning of the year, I completed my filter collection with an ND filter. Which I have been using a lot and which helps me get the desired results.

This was followed by my Manfrotto Junior Geared head, which arrived just the day I left to Cornwall and is an absolute joy to use. Can't imagine anymore trying to compose from the tripod with anything else than that. It's very precise and easy to use.

Later this year, I obtained the SilverEfexPro plug-in from Nik-Software, which changed, not necessarily my life, but a lot. I always was interested into B&W images, but never really got the results I was looking for in post. Through this plug-in though I'm actually now able to get the look of an image that I imagined, easily and quick. Plus it inspires to look for different compositions.

And my last acquisition was what I believe to be my 7th camera bag. I have been looking around a lot, but this one is the best for my purposes so far. I have made a little clip and post about this one. Have a look here if you are interested.

And of course....There's the Wacom Intuos 4. What a wonderful piece of gear. Of course it doesn't take better pictures, but it's so much more fun working with a tablet than with a mouse when editing images.

So, I guess that's be it for now and look forward to what I'm going to write at the end of this year.
